So I have same setup and one of the boards shows screen being located wrong when playing wolf3d, bench marks shows with out problems.

I will do more testing but i already feel something is wrong.

I attached the pictures of the other board.

The other picture where it is right hade asp 4:3 at that time, I did try other monitors and was still strange on the other board only in the game everything els up to the game was fine.

The only thing i found on the board that are diffrent in versions seems to be the Cirrus Logic CL-GD5428 chip.

The one that shareware has problem has stamp "45116-303DL" and "9524 U" and the other that works has "45115-303DL" and "9523 U", I don’t know what that refers to.

Tried with slotted card and there was no problems.

So i just want to add this so if some one in the future might find this and maybe have the same problems 😉

*UPDATE
This seems to be a bug with wolf3d shareware version 1.0, i did try version 1.4 and there was no issue, unsure if the different stamp on the chip has anything to do with it but i would say it does as i cant find any different reason for why not.
