I was taking this NEC multisync II monitor apart to recap it and when I was taking the top metal shelf off it instantly fell the moment the screw came loose and it scraped off part of the anode cap paint. Is this something I should try to apply like touch up paint with a car? Or is this going to not make a difference one way or another.

Thanks

I used high voltage dielectric grease. Some come coated with this. Back in the day when CRT was common this what I used.

Thanks for the info pentiumspeed. So just apply this grease to the compromised area, or should I just coat the whole area. Also any suggestions on a trustworthy brand?

Permatex dielectric grease available from any automotive stores. Works well. Was used on spark plugs to prevent rubber boots from sticking and keep them dry.
