Hey everyone, I've got win98se, with DX8.1, and having trouble with 3dMark2000, and Descent 3 at 1024x768 @ 16bit color - always seems to result in some level of corruption, going 32 bit color makes it go away, or even bumping up to 1280x1024 also works just fine.

Interesting if I try to select 1024x768@16bit in 3DMark2001, i get an error message saying my GPU doesn't support that resolution. Has anyone run into this or have any ideas what might be going on?

Just wanted to add a couple of data points to this incase, visually, it helps someone identify what's going on. It's possible this is driver related as I had been testing older video cards (Geforce2 MX, and Geforce4 TI 4600, and a S3 Virge) In this system... so maybe that's it...

This video shows the corruption I see at 16bit (no, that's not the noise from the computer - that's the dryer running in the background!)

Here's the same resolution at 32bit

I've tried different RAM, and different amounts of ram assigned to the IGP with no effect. Next up is a wipe and fresh install. Any other ideas?

Thanks!

So, I'm just realizing the IGP on an nforce2 board is a Geforce4 MX 440, which is technically only directx 7.0 compatible. going to wipe the drive and start fresh and do DX7.0 and see how it behaves.
