Ok .. in the past i rememver a subst with the ability of cd emilation.

There was no subst with cd emulation, It was cdemu after subst.

SHSUCDHD: emulates a CD-ROM using an image file.
SHSUCDRD: emulates a CD-ROM using an image file in memory.
SHSUDVHD: emulates a DVD-ROM using multiple image files.
SHSUCDRI: emulates a CD-ROM using an image created in memory.
SHSUFDRV is a driver for floppy and hard disk images. SHSURDRV copies the image (or mirrors a drive) to RAM and/or creates RAM drives.

Well it was a program like subst which accepts directories... but reports it as a cd
