Np 😉

Please tell me if you get it working too so I know if I was just lucky

Next step here is to try it with IBM PC DOS and my GUS MAX when it arrives

...or see if msdos6.22 + win95 himem + win95 emm386 works,
to figure out what's causing the trouble.

Maybe you could try some mixes, like dos7x bootup+emm386 from dos622
and the other way round.
Either it's some emm386 code that is needed (likely) or some interfacing with
a dos table where its layout was changed for dos7+.

I already tested this combination, doesn't work (see above). But I didn't try out DOS 7.x with alternative VCPI compliant memory managers like QEMM/386MAX though.

My first theory was that the memory manager caused the trouble, but based on the results posted by Amigaz, my bets are on the DOS interface now... 😉

Right, but the error message has a strong hint that it's related to an
emm386 specific table, which of course might depend on the dos version
or something like that.

such threads like this one, and others I have been through are those points I love about this forum. Because it is so vibrant and creative , so Amigaz, could you update your first post with how you made it happen ? And every time you find another way of doing it, and make it happen. Then update the first post again ? since I really like these kind of threads.

Haven't worked anymore with my system which I had the megaem problem with after getting my 486 pc's and the GUS Classic but I'm going to give it a shot with older emm386 versions on my GUS ACE system this week and see what happens

Have had solme troubles with megaem on my 486/GUS Classic system even though megaem loads fine...even the 3.10 version loads up fine but some games look up my machine when using megaem, the games that worked painless so far is some Lucasarts Games like Monkey Island 2, Indy Fate Of Atlantis
SBOS works perfect (Soundblaster emulation) and sounds terrific!

Using MS-DOS 6.22 or MS-DOS 7.10 with QEMM 8 or QEMM 9 works fine with MegaEM.
I was using Qemm already in the days of MS-DOS 5.
I can't see any advantage in using EMM386.

Link removed.

You can get several versions of QEMM and DESQview from that link

Please remove that link, QEMM/DV is still copyrighted.
