Does anybody know definitively how good NT4's compatibility is with DOS programs?
I can take a guess that it's not very good, but I'm looking for somebody with first-hand knowledge using NT4.
Thanks for any help.

About the same as 2K/XP. You'll need to use VDMSound for sound support and NOLFB for build engine games and the like.
oh and before you ask, the 'compatibility' in nt 3.51 isn't any better either.
Thank you for your help.
For the record, I'm not under some delusion that WindowsNT would be the perfect retro machine for gaming, because it's the grandparent of WindowsXP and was around in the same era as alot of older games.
I was asking because I have a customer who wanted quotes on a system running either MS-DOS 6.22, or Windows NT 4, and wanted to be able to tell him why it's not a good idea to upgrade DOS6.22 directly to NT4, if he expectes to use the same programs. And because I know the people here have alot of knowledge about older systems and programs.
Thank you, I've gotten the answer I needed.
Well as long as you don't need sound from those DOS programs, they may work just fine. No guarantees, of course....
