Hey I downloaded dosbox and unzipped it with winzip, but i dont find any file to run in order to initialize dosbox. I have jazz jackrabbit and monkey island that i would love to play. Please let me no how to get this started. thanks a lot.😀

I think you might have downloaded the source code instead of a binary *sigh*

ok so now i have it running...and I mounted the jazz jackrabbit folder...but dosbox just closes on me when i give it the command to run the game. any suggestions? thanks

Press ALT-ENTER for fullscreen.

It seems Jazz Jackrabbit is a protected mode game and thus is not supported by current 0.58 vers. Try a CVS version or better still, check the SEARCH feature on this forum before doing everything...

another tip:

read the README !

execute intro (type intro inside dosbox) .

It tells you that dosbox will stop if an error occured.

nothing you can do about.

Very much so...

In the meantime, it can be patched and run with VDMSound as we discussed way back when:
showthread.php?threadid=475&perpage=20&highli … zz&pagenumber=1

It will NOT be perfectly smooth no matter what you do because Jazz doesn't like being run in an NT environment, but you can tweak settings for reasonable performance.

Hopefully, the next public release of DosBox will support it.
