Hi all.

Have been trying to get wing commander 2 working, but alas, it is being stubborn. I have tried dosbox but as soon as I have to type in my name or save game name, the game hangs.

Wing commander 2 works under normal windows but its too fast.

I had the cunning idea of going into the game in windows and typing my name and saving in windows and playing the game in dosbox. I tried this but the game jams after the second mission.

I have also tried the cvs version of dosbox but it did not work.

Any ideas on how to get it working?

Imagine a world where we can play all DOS games. Wouldn't it be nice?

I've got the solution for you.
Origin actually put out something called Wing Commander: The Kilrathi Saga. It's versions of WC1, 2 and 3 made to run in windows. You can find it on abandonware sites (with WC3 removed).
I have been running this in XP with very few problems.

Wouldn't it be great if every software company would do this with their old titles?

Thanks for the info. I was aware of the windows version but I was unable to find it, here goes another look. Can you tell me of any abandonware sites to download it from?
