I've recently dug up my copy of Police Quest 3 (original floppy version 1.00) and got it running on Windows XP.

I keep running into a problem with the game. No matter what I try (Win98, WinXP, VDMSound, DosBox).

The game plays, but once I'm finished with all the stuff at the police station (open Sonny's locker, get the stuff, get the computercard, interview Morales) I'm supposed to be called by Dispatch.

No matter how long I remain in the office, sitting near the phone, I won't get a call.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? I'm suspecting it's a timer-related issue.

I'm running Windows XP on a Pentium 4 processor (3.2Ghz, 512mb ram, GeForce 5220).

I got the patch properly installed, but Sonny's still sitting at the office, doing nothing.

No matter how long I walk around the station or use the computer, Dispatch won't call.

Uh... never mind. 😀

I've got it working... I left Sonny at his desk and went to get a cup of coffee myself.

When I got back... woohoo, Dispatch was calling!

FYI, I was using DosBox to achieve this effect. It seems to have worked.
