I can run GK 1 under windows XP compatibility mode by setting the display to 256 color and 460x680 but when I try to save a gave everything goes black and the system hangs. No error message, nothing. Is there a way to save games? I installed the windows version on a 1ghz system running Windows XP. Are there any work arounds to save games?

If your running through windows, you can save only while on the world map, and even that is occasionally buggy. Best bet is to get it to run under dosbox, then you can save anywhere.

OK, I guess I will take the plunge into DOSBox. It looks pretty complicated but there seems to be a lot of info here. Away I go! I assume I will be abel to restore without any problems with dosbox. Right?

Yes, no problem in DOSBox. I have the CD version running off of my Harddrive and it works great.
