A few days ago, Freedos 1.0 was released. It took only twelve years to program, so supposedly the developers were a bit in a rush.
Anyway, I gave it a shot.
First, I installed the current VMPlayer with a 1GB VMD.
Then I made a vmx-file with easyvmx.
Finally, I corrected the line
# Settings for the optional virtual CDROM, ISO-image
ide1:1.present = "TRUE"
ide1:1.fileName = "fdfullcd.iso"
Then I started the freedos.vmx
Boot went without a hitch. I chose installation.
The 1GB VMD was prepared within seconds, then a reboot was required.
After reboot, a message appeared: "Invalid operation system".

That´s about it for now. Maybe I give it another try when a new version of VMPlayer or Freedos is released.
