From what I know, it is D.O.A. on any NT-based OS. It needs a 486 minimum, so trying it on DosBox was a waste of time (DosBox only supports 386 or earlier "real-mode" games).

If you just try to run the main executable (no sound driver), it generates an "illegal instruction" error for the "16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem". Basically, that means it's one of those DOS titles that likes to "hit the hardware". And since it's an older DOS title, you shouldn't expect a fix to show up.

You have few options: use a Dual-Boot setup with DOS or Win9x, wait until DosBox supports protected-mode/486 games (that will be a while...), or try one of the full-fledged PC emulators: "Virtual PC"/VMWare/Bochs...just don't expect miracles.

BTW, next time give us your system specs. We need that data for troubleshooting. For all I know, there may be something in your PC' configuration that would prevent proper operation even if you set up a dual-boot.

Thanks, uhm...I've been trying to get Bochs working and I'm lost... I can't find any DOS hard drive images, and I don't even know how to get Bochs to point to them, uhg, and all the intrsuctions are very confusing....
*Feels incredibly dumb*

You have a capable system. Just be aware that the GF4 card will probably have DOS VESA issues. Hopefully, those can be fixed by using NOLFB.COM.

Don't feel that way. It's still way too much of a pain to set up and even the sample mini-Linux install that is included will not work without heavy editing of the bochsrc file. All the documentation starts with the presumption of you knowing PC's in depth.

On top of all that, it's video display is horribly slow, making it suitable for only the adventure or turn-based strategy titles. Animation looks horrible under Bochs. VPC or VMWare should work, but obviously they weren't designed for games and cost quite a bit.

Your best bet is to set up a dual-boot. When you have Win9x already installed and you're installing 2000 or XP, it's pretty easy. When you have 2000 or XP already installed and you're installing Win9x, it's a major pain.

Yeah, I got VPC Trial and right now I'm looking for my DOS Disks or Win98 disks.
VPC seems simple enough, now I got to search for my LONG lost DOS disk... seems like I'll have to use Win98 😒
And about DUAL BOOTING...does that require you to partition your drive?

Yeah, I got Windows98 to install on it, sadly my dad, foolishly thinking we no longer need DOS, threw away the DOS disks, so I have to work with WIN98, thanks for your help, Sakura should work on it once I get it installed there.

Hey, I could do alot worse, at least Season Of Sakura has one of the best storylines of any hentai game out there, I could be playing 3 Sisters or Nocturnal Illusion which IMHO are awful games that are petty porn pictures wrapped in a paper-thin plot 😜.

Yes. You would need at least two partitions (1 for each OS) or two drives. Considering the size of most modern hard drives, multiple partitions should become more common.

Well Win98 is better to work with in general. The one exception might be that VPC would allow you to create a small DOS6 "Virtual PC" (if drive space were a major concern).

If you are actually using modern hardware, Win98 allows you to use FAT32 partitions as well as allowing for running Win9x titles that won't run properly in XP.

Didn't SoS use PC-speaker audio?

No, it uses Sound Blaster.
And if you have the CD it has a nice soundtrack, but if you downloaded off the internet you still have some-what good midi files.
