Recently, I've been trying to install some older games that require a specific letter to be mounted in order to be played correctly. Using Computer Management, I was able to change the drive letter of my D: disk drive to something else.

However, subsequent to that, I still couldn't change my CD-ROM drive letter to D: even though the name was no longer taken.

If those games are from the ms-dos era, DOSBox is just what you need. You don't need to mess with physical hardware to assign a virtual drive letter.
