I am researching a project about old Arcade/Console/PC games available for download from the various old games archives available.

However I am concerned about legal issues before urging people to possibly infringe copyright laws.

Can anyone tell me please what the legal position is re: downloading from these archives of old games? And are emulators of old games using eg Flash Player actually legal?

I would appreciate any input on these matters. I live in the UK so only need to know about UK laws.

TIA

"Emulators of old games using eg Flash Player" ? There is no such thing, if I am not mistaken. There are remakes of old games written in Flash, but those are not emulators.

Some previous discussions we have had:

Legally getting older games.
Abandonware and Dosbox
