Hi All,

Anyone have any luck getting this game to Run in XP, without using a boot-disk?
I keep getting- "Interrupt 0DH General Protection Fault Possible Illegal address" errors.
The game won't run with DOSBOX (The first two games in the series do), probably a protected game.
I get the aboe error with VDMsound, or just running the program normally.

I have an AMD 2700+ with 756MB RAM on Windows XP Home SP1.
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro and Audigy2 Sound card.
ASUS A7N8X Mobo.

Thanks!

It does use Protected Mode, use a hex editor like FrHed and you'll see references to DPMI memory.

Unfortunately, like many earlier Amiga games European programmers had a tendency to "hit the hardware" and bypass certain OS rules. Their DOS ports were more compatible, but still...

I've been unable to get the PC version of Ishar3 to run anywhere other than the True DOS level on Win98. Even then, it just crashes within a few seconds after configuration and startup.

The DOSbox beta also crashes with this (has partial-protected mode) so I suspect that it's problems are beyond "protected mode".

If all else fails, the Amiga-AGA version appears to work properly within WinUAE.
