Hello Everyone,

I'm having some trouble getting EMM386.EXE to work. I basically need it to play a lot of older games, like Privateer and Wing Commander 2. Here is my config.sys:

Device=C:\windows\himem.sys
rem TShoot: DOS=HIGH, UMB
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE RAM
files=30
buffers=30

and here is my autoexec.bat:

SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 H5 P330 T6
SET CTSYN=C:\WINDOWS
C:\PROGRA~1\CREATIVE\SBLIVE\DOSDRV\SBEINIT.COM

Every time I restart the computer, I get a message from DOS saying "Expanded Memory cannot be loaded - unable to set page frame base address." I'm not sure if that will help, but it might give you an idea of what's going on. My system specs are in my profile, but I'm unsure if any of those will really help this situation. Anyway, I would appreciate any help that you guys could give me.

Thanks!

Go into your bios and disable any integrate motherboard devices.
Usually this problem is caused by USB and HPT IDE Controllers...but can also be caused by others. You may be able to identify the device taken up the address space that EMM386 needs to enable expanded memory by using the dos program MSD.

I suggest searching the forum for "Expanded Memory" and you should see a huge thread on the subject. Read it thoroughly.
