Hi there folks,

I've searched the forum for an answer to my probhlem already,
but couldn't find an answer sufficent enough...
Anyways, I'm trying to get "PQ1: In pursuit of the death angel" to run.

For those of you now wanting to scream at me - Notice this is the VGA remake, not the textbased version. I have tried any available SCI interpreter available. As this is not the text rpg, that wont work.

So, where was i... i set up DosBox and mounted the drive, went through the setup crap and then tried to run the game...

PQ.bat:

This I get in DosBox.
scn1.jpg
From there on I can move the mousepointer ( the disk ) but do not seem to be able to click or hit ENTER.

I've tried it with Plain WinXP and VDMSound. Instead of the
game I get "Could Not find ...(some unreadable characters)...".
After hitting enter I see the sierra logo for about 1-2 seconds,
and then it just quits.

I have to admit,
I got this version from *ehum* some site *ehum* since, back when
I had my 486'er a friend of mine lend me the game - wanted to
see if it worked...

So I ain't sure if its the version... the game... or dosbox...
although, when i try with vdms - i at least get to the sierra logo (even if only for a few seconds! 😉)

If anyone had success installing the game, and might give a little
hint.. I'd be very very glad!

Thanks guy!

Thanks for the hints.
Tried it out...

Chose to not use sound, lowered the cycles from 1800 to 900 to 500.
Same error. THe picture you can see in my first post...

Strangely enough Police Quest 3 works flawlessly... okay - a few graphics glitches... but thats not the problem. I need to get PQ1
running...

That interface kind of looks like the Linux version. It might have a bug that the Win32 version doesn't have. If not, it's almost certainly that you have a corrupt archive, as PQ1-VGA runs fine in DosBox 0.58

Other than finding a place like "Half-Price Books", not really.
