It always seems like it's never possible to get sound from soundblaster at most games.
I believed Epic was using totally different modules for allocating the soundblaster, causing headaches and frustration (not talking by experience, heh.)
So... it's a definite yes if using a PCI sound card, almost all games by Epic won't play any sound other than the internal Pc speaker.

I give it a shot and ask, is there any possible solutions to get the sound working?
