I tried different combinations of [memorytype]=false in the DOSBox command line, but the amount of conventional memory did not increase, and the error message was the same (insufficient memory). I think there is no config.sys in Windows 7. Anyway I could not find it, and I don't know how to manipulate memory in Windows 7. Strange with this memory problem as the ctree program runs fine in a genuine DOS environment, also on my very old and small DOS computer. Do you know if the error code 8 means that it is the conventional memory which is too small?

8 means insufficient memory.
However in dosbox you have more conventional memory available than in real dos.

On my old Windows 98 computer the ctree progam runs fine. However, the computer uses some memory-definitions in its config sys, which you can also see with the DOS command MEM. I saved both as files, which I want to show you, because they could maybe be copied in DOSBox. However I don't know how to attach files to the present message. Could you please tell me? Thank you in advance!

You should also have a print of the result of DOS command MEM (in Danish):

The above prints from config.sys and the MEM command are from my old Windows 98 computer, where ctree runs fine under DOS, as it does on my still older DOS-only computer. On my new Windows 7 computer there is apparently no config.sys file. Here DOSBox runs other oldies fine, but not ctree.

TO THE MODERATOR OF THIS PAGE: It is a little confusing that the present discussion of how to run the program CTREE without error message "Insufficient memory" has "Lotus 1-2-3" in its title. Apparently the above comment from "Stavros" has been misled by this. Could the discussion be placed under another heading, so I could get relevant answers??
