Hello.
Long ago I found a little program that would allow old DOS games to run in Win XP, getting rid of the error that says "NTVDM has encountered an illegal instruction". It could work in conjunction with VDMSOUND and allowed me to run DOS games in a freely resizeable window. It was released on this very site but I can't find it anymore.
What's its name?

I was able to run Azrael's Tear with it, although it would be either too fast or too slow. I remember that the author posted various versions of it. I really can't remember when, though. Another thing that comes to my mind is a custom mouse pointer that would tell you what to press to untrap the mouse.
