okie, since noone posted anything about this i might as well do it...
earlier i tried running an old dos game, nyet 3... kinda like a fancier version of tetris, and all i got was this funny runtime error 002 at blah blah. i tried running ctbppat but it didn't fix it, report says it's written in turbo pascal 6.0. i tried with vdmsound too under win2k, but it would just freeze, haven't tried dosbox yet. any ideas?

runtime error 002 means: file not found.
(at least with borland pascal)

So it can't find one of it's files. This can be for multiple reasons.

But try running it dosbox. Maybe that helps

hmm. i had a botched version alright, the one from the underdogs works... somewhat. it's booting up, but rather than the intro tune i get a short noise and the game goes on with no sound at all (this under dosbox). meh, i'll try later under win98. thanks for all the help you guys!
