So I just got Warcraft 2 for my DOS computer and when I try and start it DOS/4GW just gives me "error (2001): exception 0Dh (general protection fault) at 2 60:100C36BE"

Specs:
VIA Eden 1Ghz
S3 Unichrome AGP Graphics
Aureal Vortex 8830 PCI
DOS 6.22

May your frames be high and your temps be low.

I don't have the same PC specs, but Warcraft 2 worked with the following:

Asus P3B-F Slot 1 Motherboard (Intel 440BX)
Pentium III 1GHz Coppermine CPU (100MHz FSB)
512mb PC-133 SDRAM
Nvidia GeForce 2 GTS 32mb AGP
3dfx Voodoo 2 1000 12mb SLI
Turtle Beach Montego A3DXstream (Aureal Vortex 8820) + Cancun FX MIDI DB
Seagate 40gb Barracuda ATA IV & Western Digital 80gb WD800JB hard drives
Sony 16x DVD-ROM
DOS 7.1

Scrolling was extremely fast but everything else was fine and without any errors. Tried with JemmEx memory manager and clean boot with DVD-ROM and sound emulation drivers.

Ooohh, the pain......

The latest DOS4GW.EXE is 2.01a. The game almost certainly has 1.94 or 1.97 or such.
You may try with the latest version, google for it.

I remember DOS4GW does not like it if your PATH environment variable is too long. Try doing

set path=
war2

Also try running UNIVBE.
