I can't seem to get the soundblaster to work on Commander Keen 4 and Commander Keen 6. it works rarely when i relaunch it. other games like Doom and Wolfenstein 3D and Duke Nukem 3D have sound but Commander Keen is finicky with it on my machine.

The Soundblaster/Adlib is greyed out and i can only hear the PC Speaker. 🙁 Whats wrong with my PC?

You say "it works rarely when i relaunch it", so considering it works at all it's probably some horribly obscure configuration bug. Restarting in MS-DOS mode is probably a good idea.

There were several different versions of Keen 4 released and you might want to make sure you have the last one. You can also try an alternative interpreter like Commander Genius if you're so inclined.

Commander keen 5 works fine, but CK4 and CK6 are having that issue. It does the same thing on dos mode too.

Aye. You have version 1.1, the latest version is 1.4 and since Keen 5 works, it's probably a bug or incompatibility that was fixed in later versions. Commander Genius would work of course, but with that I've found that the physics are not very accurate and the music sounds like an elevator (no offence, Gerstrong... 😊 ).

Sometimes I've found that running another program, such as Adlib Tracker II, which resets the OPL3 ports upon loading, will fix issues like this until you restart.
