anti softice was a huge thing, it was in loads of later era stuff. I don't remember specific games off hand, but I remember having to disable protected mode softice a lot when I used to run it back in the day... I never ran windows softice.

i have vague memories of game wizard, it was just a simple tsr, i don't remember many games that purposely tried to block GW.

I usually utilized GameWizard with Turbo debugger to put breakpoint without geting problems of corrupted video (GW always restored good..)
Game Wizard was also able in loading and saving the state of the computer to restore later in case the game have not a save function.
