Ok, before I use my scanner... I would like to know if using a data transfer cable (The only parrael cable I have) will damage the ports. Does it?

If you need the model number it is a Canon IX-4015

Sorry if this is on the wrong board, I cannot find any other boards to use.

I think parallel cables are mostly compatable between devices. At the very least, it shouldn't damage the port since they are powered by the PC and not whatever you are connecting to them.

Before I go any further, I would like to know what resolution do scanners as old as 1993 scan. I'm planning to use the old scanner, because, I can't get my
Dell A290 printer and scanner combo to scan at lower resolutions.
I'm trying to scan at lower resoultion, because, I'm working on a Doom MOD, but, I have to have low resolution images in order to do the graphics.

Dosfreak is right... Even the GIMP (Free graphic editing suite) will give better results in resizing a picture than scanning at a low resolution.

Besides, it's easier to edit a big picture with detail, then scale down, and edit to clean up or define things that need it...
