Hello.

I'm a noob, so at best I only know of SBEMU, which adds Sound Blaster support for AC97. There also are a couple programs to slowdown the CPU, to get the very older games to work properly, but I don't know their names. What else should I get for a 2013's PC? For example, what about MC6845 registers?

That's it for DOS. I'm willing to install WinXP to another partition as well. Is anything else necessary, besides VDMSound?

Thanks for your time.

The best slow down utilities are those which work at the BIOS level, by reprogramming CPU clock mutiplier registers on the motherboard. Such as Throttle, and CpuSpd:

These are hardware slowdowns, take no memory, and do not rely on HLT instructions or other software methods.
