Does any one know how to swap daikatana from software to hardware mode I have a pentium 3 550mhz and an ati rage 128 pro and only getting like 12 fps I changed the gpu out to a geforce 440mx and no change in performance

12fps sounds right. It's not well optimized in the early marsh point in the game. Also there is no software renderer. There is no HWT&L in Daikatana so the GF2MX won't do much over a Rage128 for this CPU and fillrate-limited situation

The unofficial Version 1.3 patch claims to still support Win9x, so you might give it a try if you haven't already:
