Hi my name is Yoda. As I was building this guide I realized there was no way in my understanding anyway to install the Yamaha driver with the steam version, or the modern method of 7th heaven. Now the method im using might be compensating for the general MIDI being selected (I have no choice) by the person who made the drop in files, but I was wondering if people like in this forum who come across as if they know what they are talking about, if this is indeed identical, or in practice indistinguishable from the original game sound. Also im aware there is a 2mb, 4mb, and 8mb option tucked away somewhere and would very much like to know if it is maxed out or better in whatever wrapper 7th heaven is using. The ability to change this even if its nit picky is a serious consideration for me.
I also was very interested in it being fixed because its obvious to me it launched in an imperfect state, a sin that is honestly hard to understand considering its scores caliber beyond maybe deadlines rushing things along. I was also wanting to see if there was a more refined achieving the same vibe, modern processing version of this someone here might soon make available. There is a Yamaha remastered handful of videos on youtube, but as far as I can tell thats not playable with the game in real time, making them more or less useless to my ambitions.
Now the entire purpose of my goal is to make as much of the retro library functional, and as fully as possible in modern operating systems people actually run these days. I dont get the idea for example, raytracing is going to fly in a windows 98 virtual machine. Its also a tough sell suggesting Creatives path in this title since apart from some exceptions of nuance, its clear it didnt get the same amount of love as the Yamaha path. I also would love to see someone smoothly hybridize this Yamaha sound with the symphonics of remake which in parts each genuinely sound better than one another. I guess the trick is making them blend together without sounding off. Id love to use the last posters file for the last part of the game but its not a format I recognize.
I think what we need is some programmers, or a programmer thats committed to this game as a project so we can run pretty much whatever we want if necessary in emulation. That or rebuild the bridge to all the neglected files. That said there was some issues I faced using the original MIDI option in 7th heaven where it definitely sounded wrong, so its a complex topic we can hopefully figure out and make work for windows 10, and easily, in time.
