During its release the game was praised for its SVGA Graphics. But, doesn't it run at a lower Resolution? This looks more like vga and not 800x600?

SVGA also covered 640x400/640x480 in 256 colors because that would often be part of typical early SVGA cards that could do 800x600 at 16 colors. Marketing yes.

640x480 at more than 16 colors is SVGA .

Any mode that is not possible on the VGA adapters in IBM PS/2 models launched in 1987 is considered SVGA (Super VGA).
