Win2k SP3, Privateer 1, no worky.

protected mode drive is not responding to EMS function calls. Make sure your EMS driver is not configured with the NOEMS option.
If it is, replace the option "NOEMS" with "RAM".

in the config.nt, I have a EMM= RAM line, which works. in the PIF I use to start Privateer, I have EMS on and up (16 meg)

I've tried VDMS, no dice, DOSBOX, no dice.. I'm considering a BOCHS image, or if I actually get Tax money back, buying a 'proper' Old School computer.. I still have 2 or 3 SB16 kicking around, after all...

Only if you feel the need to punish yourself. It runs poorly (slow screen updates) on "Virtual PC 5", but considering Boch's VGA display is horrifically slow, it would be like "water torture" on Bochs if you actually got it running.

It uses VCPI memory which means it must use DOS or the "true" DOS mode of Win9x. Dual-boot, emulation by "Virtual PC" (>$200), or an actual "classic" PC are your only options at present.

DosBox might be able to support it once it has "protected mode" support, but even then VCPI may break it.
