Avoid using WinROTT.

Try going into command prompt (Start>run>'command'), change to the rott directory (cd \ROTT\ROTTPLAY\) and run SETUP.

It is possible you were running from a shortcut with a wrong working folder

I did those steps and got the setup to open as before. This time the error said:

"Rise of The Triad Error!
W_Initfiles:no files found"

Just for good measure, after that, i copied all the files from the CD into that folder and still got the same error message.

Ok i finally got it to run on DOS. Just in case anyone ever needs to run ROTT on win95, here is how to do it:

Go to http://www.3drealms.com/tech/rott.html#manualinstall and click on "downloading this alternate install program first". Save this to an A disk. Make a folder on your C: called download. Unzip the file to that folder. Read the readme for instructions.
