There are several older (but not ancient) Windows 95/98-based games that give me the following error message once I click on "install" in the the game's intro panel (I have a Dell Dimension with Windows XP):
"16 Bit Windows Subsystem
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
_______ _________
|_Close_| |_Ignore__|"
I've tried setting up a shortcut for the setup program off of the CD (so I can run it in a previous compatibility mode), but get the same message. I'm not too terribly savvy with programming or even tweaking, but I was able to make DOSBox work for a couple of DOS games and thought I'd ask about this one.
