Tried playing in xp but it crashed with an error in a3d.dll
so i downloaded a a3d.dll filer from here:

put it in the game folder and the game now runs fine

So this is an Aureal issue I take it?
well its the game not liking the version of a3d.dll that was on my pc
(either it came with windows or with my xfi drivers) most creative cards support a3d version 1.0
edit: got a feeling its bundled with directx
left default xp -- right downloaded file
