According to at least a couple of people at NT Compatible, it can be run in 2000/XP.

No matter what OS you use, there will be stability issues...

Make sure you have the last official patch, 1.18, and the unofficial fan patch is a good thing.

It has an entry for Ultima IX, so it will automatically help the game run better under Win2K/XP

Mine works in XP almost out of the box... I install the 1.18 no-cd patch so I don't need the CD all the time (I asked Origin about replacement CDs about 10 months ago, as mine are getting scratchy, but no response... sniff).

I've gone on to complete the game in XP; it works like a charm (and runs very well at 1600x1200 on a GeforceFX 5200!)

Yes, I forgot to post back. It's working quite well. BTW: The unofficial (fan made) 1.19f patch does some D3D tweakings.
