Dungeon Keeper gold used to work previously when I had XP Service Pack 3, but recently I upgraded to Windows 7 32bit and tried to install Dungeon Keeper Gold but to no avail. I can't even run the setup.exe from the disc. Clicking it does nothing. I've tried a few different images in case this one's faulty but they all do the same.

It can't be daemontools' problem I'm guessing. Anyone else get this problem or know how to fix?

so there is no error listed in event manager ?

and what happens if you copy the files from the cd to a folder and run setup from there ?

The same thing happens when I copy the folder, for some odd reason. I watched a youtube vid or two on how to install DKG on Windows 7, and it seems that I'm not the only one who can't get the setup to run, as some comments say the same thing.

i only have xp + dk2 and it works fine
the install folder looks like the cd except the cd has autorun, redist, english folders
so try copying the cd to a folder and instead of running setup try running dk2 (as admin)

I don't see one for setup.exe but I do see one for ntvdm.exe The thing says

The program ntvdm.exe version 6.1.7600.16385 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

Alright I ended up downloading a file with the whole pre-installed folder in tact. So, now here's the new problem. When I opened keeper95.exe I got the little black box problem in the upper left corner. I fixed it though, since I followed a tutorial, downloaded Comparability Tool and added/installed a fix that had forceddirectemulation or something. The black box problem got fixed, but now I get the intro-screen the disc screen, but soon after it just crashed to desktop and windows says keeper95.exe has stopped working.

So now, I check the event viewer for the error and this is what the error says.

Faulting application name: KEEPER95.EXE, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x33eadcce
