Yeah I bought a PII-450 and my brother got a cheaper K6-2-380 several months later, and my system felt like a dreamy sports car compared to his. Partly it was because his Voodoo Banshee wasn't quite as nice as my nVidia Riva TNT1, but mostly it was because of the awful AGP performance/stability of his VIA Apollo something-or-other motherboard chipset compared to that of my Intel 440BX.

The VIA AGP bridge drivers helped a *lot* but his machine still felt sluggish/bogged in 3D games compared to mine.
