Hi all. Let's see.

I have my most favourite rail shooter game, The Hive, which I got on ebay a couple of years ago after being obsessed with the demo for some more years. I didn't have any problem playing it until the last time I reinstalled it, when I found that SUNMAPLS_IP_EBP_12 error that happened with Space Hulk, 3 Skulls of the Toltecs and some other games, it seems.

In case you want to know, I use Windows XP SP3, directx9c, 2 gb of ram, intel dual core 2,13gh, ati radeon 4570 blah blah blah. I'm just guessing that it's one of those directx updates or sp updates that makes you say goodbye to that utopic concept of retro-compatibility in the same operating system, but in case there is another solution, I would like to know. And yes, I've tried with 95 compatibility, 98 compatibility, with directdraw off, with direct3d off, just every iteration of that.

And I really need to play The Hive again. It's one of the better anti-stress therapies I've found.

Thanks all.

Theoretically, disabling directdraw graphical acceleration can help.
dxdiag.exe/Display/Disable DirectDraw acceleration.
I run Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels with this tweak.
