I saw that dosbox can emulate IPX and tunnel it over TCP/IP. I was wondering if this is possible with Diablo? DosBox won't run diablo as it can't run in DOS mode.

Diablo itself runs fine, but win7 does not have IPX support 🙁

Another crazy idea of mine :D

google produced these two links rather rapidly
http://www.solemnwarning.net/ipxwrapper/
http://www.morpheussoftware.net/git/

however, there are lots of smart people here so maybe someone will have a better answer for you.

You could get Windows 95 going in DosBox and use an old version of MagicDisc to run a disc image of Diablo, since DosBox doesn't support CDROMs under Win95 (yet). Of course, this idea may not even work, but it's worth giving it a try.

Also, DosBox doesn't officially support Win95, so you may get some flak if you ask too many questions about getting it to run on there. 🤣

Try using the Red Alert 2 UDP patch. Who knows if it works for Diablo (it's a wsock32.dll file):

Is MagicDisc like Daemon Tools?
