I have some problems with finding some decent working software for this os..
Most things i useally used, doesnt work any more..

I want to know which decent updated webbrowser i can use for windows 98 second edition..

Standard internet explorer 5 doesnt work good, and mostly it will crash..

So i looking for an other browser..

I checked Opera all ready, but out of OS spec.. this is also with firefox..

And what brand virus scanner is a good solution for it?

I would think installing IE6 SP1 would be a good idea just to insulate yourself from the bugs and security holes inherent in IE5.

A lot of newer software will work if you install the Unicode update and KernelEx.

Thanks for the clamwin virus scanner, its a nice scanner

I have installed kernelex. I like that too, but can i only run one program with..?
I tried to use 2 browsers, then the system feeling slow and crash..

I have tried to install the newest Opera 11.50 webbrowser.. He unpacked the files, but wont want to start to install..

For now iam using firefox 3.6 it works well, but iam not really happy with it.
Are there maybe lighter web browsers? What can i do?

Did you look at the wiki and follow the advice there!?

Well, a lighter web browser is a different matter, isn't it?

I still use K-Meleon on one of my older machines; apparently it still works under Win98 for now.

K-meleon works real well on 98SE. Also you can have real time scanning with Clam Sentinel, an add-on for ClamWin.

You can watch some YouTube vids using Adobe Flash 9 something- forgot which exact version it is but it's easy enough to look for using google and then go get it from the Old Apps website.

Well, as far as office software goes, apparently Softmaker Office 2006 runs under Win98, and it's freeware. Fine program, that Softmaker Office.

Open Office 2.4.1 works fine on Windows 98/ME

Also works on Windows 95 with some modifications.
