So I'm building my win98 gaming rig and I notice on my SB live there is a conection for a PC speaker, it just so happens I have a speaker laying around. The reason I'm asking how to use it is because I play dos games on this machine and the tiny thing mounted on the mother board sucks (more than a normal speaker) for game sound. How to I turn it off and simply use the output on my SB live?

I always though it's just an input, take some wires from the motherboard connector and stick them on there. Never tried it though, always wondered how well it actually sounds.

Right, it's an input. What motherboard make/model are you using? If the motherboard has a PC speaker pinout then you should be able to wire that to the SB Live and have your bleeps and bloops routed through your sound card. That at least gives you volume control, and it will probably be less harsh on your ears.

Yeah some other Creative sound cards come with that feature as well I believe

Speaker tier:

GOD TIER:
- Large bottomofcase mounted PC Speaker

Mid tier:
- Rerouted through sound card

Roll tier:
- Piezo
