Hey, I recently got my doom95 copy working in windows 7 (woot) and I was wondering, yes I know about dosbox (lol) but, are there any like win95 loaders for quake and duke3d? I own both of those games and I would really like to not rebuy them on steam.

Windows-based frontends? Quake and Duke never came with any official ones, they're mostly third-party

Quake has plenty, though be aware these were made before the source code release so they aren't aware of custom engines mostly. Some were made before VQuake/Winquake/GLQuake as well (the official unsupported engines)

DUKE3D I just use setup.exe 🤣

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of running it natively in windows 7, like how I got doom95 to do.

Doom isn't just a game, it's an apocalypse survival simulator.

for Quake I can really recommend you DarkPlaces
http://icculus.org/twilight/darkplaces/ , add some of this: http://qrp.quakeone.com/ and this: http://quakeone.com/reforged/ and you will get an even awesomer game!

for Duke3d all u need is here: http://hrp.duke4.net/

Doom95 doesn't run natively. It relies on VXDs for even mouse control. You'll want to find a source port

personally i wouldn't use an 'enhancement port' which may alter physics and the general difficulty of the game to be easier due to "fixes".

For Doom try Chocolate Doom

I would have recommended DirectQ for Quake (faithful looking D3D9/11 port) for it's general puristness and ease (it can load gamedirs and maps while running through the ingame menu) but i've noticed some gameplay bugs caused by it like rockets going THROUGH shamblers caused by some orientation bug

That quake port looks awesome! 😁 Do you know of any still active multiplayer ips? Or is it only lan?

Played about 30mins of DirectQ then started up my windows98SE box and played some regular quake and the only thing I noticed was that on DirectQ the movements were more fluid and smoother, (keep in mind my win98 box is a PIII 500mhz) and the extra options DirectQ has, but besides that it really captures the essences of original quake.

For Duke Nukem 3D, try eDuke32. You can set it the way you want, making it feel exactly like the original version or using high resolution packs for a newer game feel.
