I own both Assault Rigs and Mechwarrior 2 special editions for 3D RAGE by ATI. I want to know, it it possible to get these games working? I will use a virtual PC if needed. I also am using a GeForce GTX 650 graphics card for reference.
You need an ATI Rage card in Windows 9X on a real PC. There is no other way. ATI 3D CIF is currently not emulated.
Why has no one done this? There are plenty of game versions exclusive to 3D RAGE to warrent an emulation of the API.
Because unlike Glide, it's far in the minority for such a big undertaking to develop a wrapper for an API used by a handful of hard-to-obtain OEM pack-in games. Ditto for SGL, Rredline, MSI3D, S3D....
So there is no possible chance, by ANY means that I will get the games work on my machine?
No, you need to get an older computer to run them. As leileilol said, I hardly doubt someone will create a wrapper for the two exclusive games to ATICIF (wipeout, assault rigs). All the other games with ATICIF support can be run on other APIs. See my list stuckified in the marcin section of vogons
Ah well, I'll have to build an old PC then. I guess theres nothing to be done, though if someone discovers a way to make the games work then I would like to hear it.
