I used to have this game - the free version which runs without any issues in my XP machine. But in Win 7 when logged in as main user , adjusting the compat to Win 95 and run in 256 colors removes the horrible grains from the graphics.

But the point is if I log in as a guest and with the same specs in the shortcut it produces a very grainy output. Any clues..?

Agreed, don't see why this is in Dosbox. Moved to Windows.

Thanks for the reply mate. It is infact a game which would run without a flaw in win98 and XP. I tried using Win95 compat mode in Win 7. For some days it worked fine. The title graphics is perfect, the game graphics has gone for a swing and is ineligible.

Isn't this the same old problem that is fixed by killing Explorer?

What confuses me is why there would be a problem logging in as guest, unless the guest has Aero disabled or something.

@Jorpho, that seems to be a little costly solution. Wonder if anything messes up with the explorer , or I will not be able to access any folders meantime etc. I wonder if that is the only roundabout available.Infact these days the output is bad even for the main user. Wonder what was the settings when it played correctly?

It's harmless; people have been doing it all the time since Windows 7 was released. You just restart Explorer afterwards by starting the task manager (ctrl-shift-Esc) and starting it from the File menu.

http://superuser.com/questions/490591/why-doe … s-colors-change suggests that the "Disable desktop composition" setting may also do the trick.

http://write-code.blogspot.ca/2011/03/solving … ml#.UlTd3D-bZjs provides instructions on politely "exiting" explorer rather than killing it, as well as some other curious alternatives.

Thanks Jorpho! This link http://write-code.blogspot.ca/2011/03/solving … ml#.UlTd3D-bZjs and within that Screen Resolution>> Monitor etc solution worked very well. But it does seem strange how leaving open a settings window miraculously gets the graphics back! Thanks to whoever tried such combinations...
