Xp: status of an active network connection isn't working

Have installed Xp and have found an old Xp feature.
Network connections: doubleclick to active connection/selecting "connection status" in the network tasks/selecting "status" in the context menu - no reaction.
Unfortunatedly I forgot the cause and fix for this trouble.
P.S. Maybe I'm wrong but this bug is associated with MSXML in my memory...
Help, someone?

Asus P4P800 SE/Pentium4 3.2E/2 Gb DDR400B,
Radeon HD3850 Agp (Sapphire), Catalyst 14.4 (XpProSp3).
Voodoo2 12 MB SLI, Win2k drivers 1.02.00 (XpProSp3).

Deactivate "launch folder windows in a separate process" from Windows Explorer Tools --> Options --> View.

Another possible culprit is the "Network Location Awareness (NLA)" service being stopped.

Unfortunatedly - no. NLA service is working, "launch folder window in a separate process" was disabled.
