Hi everyone,

O.K. here's my situation:

I have 1942 Pacific Air War gold edition but the CD version not the floppy version.
The retail box I have says Windows 3.1 but this was supposed to have been able to install under Windows 95...........My PC has Windows 8.1

I copied the disc contents to my C:\ drive to make installation easy.

When I opened dosbox to run the executable a "this must be run in windows" message appeared in the dosbox command line.

What do I do next?

Any help would be appreciated......I really want to run this game.

Would Ubuntu work for this game using Virtual Box?

Hi,

Would installing Ubuntu work if mounted that?

Also, Where could I buy a copy of Windows 95 from legally?

UPDATE:

Ubuntu will NOT run on Windows 8.1

Two threads for the same problem. Official DOSBox does not support 95. If you are going to install Windows in DOSBox just buy 3x, which is supported.

But again, ask DOSBox questions in the DOSBox forum.
