Also asked this on AssemberGames, but will ask here too:

I'm trying to get the UK (if that matters) version of South Park Rally (by Tantalus/Acclaim) to work on my Win8.1 64bit PC. I've seen people say it works on Windows Vista and even Win7 64bit, so I was hoping I might get somewhere.

It installs fine, and patches fine (the 1.01 patch), but running the config or game throws this into the games own debug.log file... I've tried compatibility modes in Win8.1 but nothing helps much. I also tried a no-CD crack, and copying part of the game files from my old XP machine, so far nothing works.

Here's the log file (no compatibility modes):

With compatibility mode set to XP (SP2), the log file looks like this:

Anyone got any ideas? I tried in ACT the profile for South Park Rally, but that doesn't work either, throwing a Windows Event Viewer log of:

p.s. I realise the game's a bit rubbish, and there's an N64/Dreamcast version that can be emulated, but that's not the point 😁

Ah, I'm on i7-4790K, 16GB RAM, GTX 980. Maybe it's a graphics driver issue (often is with Nvidia, though to be honest I've been dead impressed with how many games I can get working fine, or better than XP, on Win8.1 with the latest graphics drivers!)
