delving a tiny bit deeeper, while my app worked.. it had some graphical display issues when i opened up the preferences for the app, there was a pixel offset so i had to click 15 pixels above where i wanted to click to actually make changes to the preferences.. so im assuming that, while the runtime of 6.0 allowed my app to run, the app was designed in around 2001.. and the 6.0 runtimes are from 1998.. so that leaves me wondering if theres one more level up of a vcredist package that will solve everything.

according to wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_C%2B%2B, it seems the 2003 visual studio 7.1 runtimes are listed as the last version to support win95...

Visual C++ .NET 2003 (known also as Visual C++ 7.1), which included MFC 7.1, was released in 2003 along with .NET 1.1 and was a major upgrade to Visual C++ .NET 2002. It was considered a patch to Visual C++ .NET 2002. Accordingly, the English language upgrade version of Visual Studio .NET 2003 shipped for minimal cost to owners of the English-language version of Visual Studio .NET 2002. This was the last version to support Windows 95 and NT 4.0 as a target.[citation needed] Version number: 13.10.3077

but i found this comprehensive post on a russian forum
http://forum.ru-board.com/topic.cgi?forum=5&t … t=0&limit=1&m=1
very detailed, and this post clearly lists

Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 (9.0) Redistributable Package for Windows 95-ME only :: зеркало (7) - точная версия пакета 9.0.21022.8

a visual c++ 9.0 (2008) redist package explicitly made for windows 95..

so im gonna test this to see if this is the "Catch all" "highest version" that will fix any + all dependancy issues
direct link was posted as : http://rapidshare.com/files/143204368/vcredist_9x.exe
and of course. the file is not there 😁
figures:)

copying the number from the reference to the file (9.0.21022.8 ) and doing a google search yields this link :
https://npackd.appspot.com/p/com.microsoft.Vi … ble/9.0.21022.8
is this win95 compatible? i guess i will test
no it is not.. definately not compatible.

does anyone know what other packages i could be missing that would affect the visual display of my app? the graphics arent quite right to how they look in windows 98..
i thought by using the final version of windows 95 that it would be pretty much the same as it is on windows 98. but something isnt quite right still.
