Hi,

I am trying to run Panzer General 1 in a VirtualBox with MS-DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.1. The host is Windows 8.1. In the virtual machine, mouse drivers, WinGroove (for MIDI support) and SVGA drivers have been installed. Installing Panzer General from the CD image also works, Win32s stuff gets also installed, afterwards runs an animation while the program tests for the best display performance. Launching the game shows the splash screen, then the load circle, the intro music starts playing, but the program closes and an error message gets shown:

"Fatal Panzer General Error:

File Not Found: 'E:\Win\Movies\086.MOV' (exFileError)"

E:\ is the CD-ROM drive and I can access that file from the file manager. Playing it with Quicktime 16-bit 2.1.2 doesn't show the video. It's the same issue if Quicktime isn't installed.

There are two reports of that issue: One from 1998, and one from 2003.

Has anybody an idea what I am doing wrong? Thank you.

EDIT: Found the issue: Video for Windows and its codecs were missing (opening the .mov files in Quicktime still doesn't show them, but it works in PG1).
