Hi,

I'm trying to get a rather obscure game from 2009 to run, called Tunnel Rats 1968 (available only on Steam). This game absolutely refuses to run on Windows 7-10, so I got out my old Laptop with Windows XP. There it installs alright. But when I try to activate the "Launcher.exe" it just gives me the error message "Error: Device not supported".

My System is: Intel 1,6 GHZ CPU, ATI Radeon Mobility 9000, 512 MB RAM.

Graphic Card Drivers are up to date for this system, I re-installed Direct X 9.0c and I tried installing PhysX because the game needs that. Still the error continues!

Please help, I really want to play this because I liked the movie it's based on. The game's known to be glitchy, the Company that made it went bankrupt a month after it was published so it was never patched etc. 😐 Any help is greatly appreciated.

What is PS3.0? I installed the latest PhysX I could find. And I asked at Steam, they said it's up to the developer to provide support. And the developer doesn't exist anymore. Any ideas how I could solve this or does it mean my Card can't handle it?

PS3.0 = Pixel Shader 3.0

There are probably ways to run software that requires PS3.0 on hardware that does not support that feature, but offhand I do not know what they are specifically.

3DAnalyze and DXTweaker come to mind.

Any alternative to 3D Analyzer?

Won't work, been there tried that. I was stuck on a Radeon X800 for a long time when the games started requiring PS3.0, and so I tried pretty much all things there were available. Only thing that might work is SwiftShader, but that requires an absolute monster of a cpu to run anything.

Thanks for all your Input, I thought it might be something like a Problem with the graphics card. I managed to email one of the game's developers. He wrote back that his company went out of business in 2009 so there was never any patch released and they rushed the game out. It won't run on Windows 7+ because of an incompatibility with the PhysX engine and it also won't run on older XP machines. He said basically you'd need a computer exactly from the time it was released to get it to run. He said he can't understand why Steam even still sells it, knowing that 90% of people won't get it to work 🙁
