Hello to everybody.
I am reading Vogons for quite time now. It is a pretty nice forum especially for someone who likes RETRO PC etc.

So nice to meet you all.

Here is what i want to do and your advice becomes heavy.

I have a retro gaming PC based on P4 3.2EE and 2gb(2X1) ram. I really don't wont to change the setup as it "rocks" in XP.
The idea is to have also win98se on it to run some older games. I don't have any other issue but the amount of ram. Is there any way i can get windows 98se to not having any problem with the ram. It is obvious that i don't expect to have this amount of ram available in win98 (512 which is the maximum is super fine), i just only want to make them work because now it crashes.

I have read about the ".ini file" and XMS ram disk but i don't know how to apply these? Can you please help me, does they work at all?

Thanks

There is a patch available (for purchase) to expand the amount of RAM usable by Win98. Also, the unofficial service packs include some workarounds. Alternately, you can use HIMEMX to artificially limit available RAM to 512MB.

Probably the best, easiest and safest way.

This should be in Marvin. This forum is for Windows games on *modern* systems.
